House on the beach with storm damage. Large area of sand. Let us know if you need help with damages from a coastal storm.

Preparing for a coastal storm can be nerve wracking. There are so many unknown factors and it can be difficult knowing what to do and what not to do. We have compiled a list to help you prepare for a storm.

* Always take the advice of local authorities and evacuate if you are asked to do so. Pay attention to news alerts as there are times when you receive the evacuation alert however, it is too late.

*Unplug all of your electronic devices to avoid any fires.

*Try your best to place important items in a higher place just in case there is flooding.

*Turn off your water supply to avoid flooding from broken pipes. Fill your tub with water first to ensure you have water to boil, clean and flush the toilet if needed.

*Turn off your gas to prevent any possible gas leaks from occurring.

*Ensure you have a bag packed with extra clothes, medications, water, and snack items that are non perishable.

*Identify a safe place to meet loved ones if needed and ensure you have a full tank of gas ready.

As always, SERVPRO of Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos is here if you need us.
